Nuno Doesn’t Want Him: Max Kilman Set to Leave West Ham

West Ham United flop Max Kilman reportedly has ‘no future’ at the club and is set to exit the London Stadium at some point this summer.

The Hammers will return to the Championship for the first time in 14 years after finishing the Premier League campaign in 18th with 39 points. It is the highest number of points accumulated by a relegated side since 2011.

Plenty of uncertainty lies ahead for West Ham, who will be required to raise between £100m to £150m in player sales. Many of their bigger names are expected to move on.

There has been clarity on Nuno Espirito Santo’s future, however.

The former Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur boss will remain in the dugout at the London Stadium as he tries to lead the club back into the Premier League at the first attempt.

Max Kilman for West Ham

One player who won’t be around for the battle to get out of the Championship is defender Max Kilman.

According to Claret and Hugh, the ex-Wolves defender is likely to head out on loan during the summer as he is not part of Nuno’s plans for next season.

The player’s time at the club has been described as a ‘massive disappointment’ – which is a huge frustration for West Ham after they spent £40m on him just two years ago.

He has been described as an ‘excellent‘ player but has failed to make the grade at the Hammers. Kilman made 25 appearances in all competitions this season but did not feature for even a single minute in the Premier League since the end of January.

Kilman did play in the FA Cup semi-final loss to Leeds United in April but made a costly mistake in that game as he gave away a penalty.

Loan deal could work out for all parties

Nuno Espirito Santo

Kilman signed a seven-year contract when he joined the Hammers two years ago and West Ham will struggle to make back the £40m they spent on him.

A loan move has the potential for the defender to rediscover his form in a new environment and bump up his value again. Crystal Palace were interested in a move for the player back in January but it is not clear if they have retained an interest.

The Eagles will need to add more depth to their ranks for next season as they prepare to play in the Europa League.

However, West Ham will prefer Kilman makes a loan move somewhere he is guaranteed minutes – as that will give the Irons a better chance of selling him for a higher transfer fee down the line.
