The Scottish FA has released the full VAR audio from the most recent Old Firm derby, confirming a “blatant” error in judgment regarding a challenge on Rangers’ Mikey Moore. The footage and accompanying dialogue have sparked outrage, revealing how officials failed to send off a Celtic defender for what has been described as a clear denial of a goal-scoring opportunity.
The incident occurred early in the second half when Moore, racing through on goal, was clipped from behind. While the referee on the pitch allowed play to continue, the VAR audio reveals a frantic and ultimately flawed review process. The officials in the booth can be heard discussing the contact, acknowledging that Moore was “impeded,” yet they inexplicably concluded that the foul didn’t meet the threshold for a “clear and obvious” error.
