Kris Boyd lays into Rangers after Celtic loss: ‘Fed up saying it’
Kris Boyd criticised Rangers after their 3-1 defeat by Celtic at Parkhead.
The former Ibrox striker was visibly frustrated in the Sky Sports studio as his old team fell out of the title race.
Rangers opened the scoring through Mikey Moore, but Celtic’s Yang equalised before half-time.
Daizen Maeda then scored twice, including a spectacular overhead kick, sealing the victory for the Hoops.
Boyd questioned Rangers’ mentality and ability to see out games in challenging situations. The 42-year-old said: “What is worrying would be the drop-off of his team continuously.
Fluid logo “When you play in the spells they have been, Rangers look a good team. But all of a sudden, the moments you need to suffer – and Danny Rohl spoke about suffering in moments – they fold.”
Boyd was critical of Rangers’ inability to remain cohesive under pressure, noting that “they’re so easy to play through.”
He said: “They go as individuals and that’s when you need leaders to pull them in. You need to be harder to play against.”
Boyd highlighted the concerning drop in Rangers’ performance from one half to the other, pointing out that they have lost three games since the league split.
He stressed the need for a big summer and another rebuild for Rangers, saying: “They missed out on second spot now which is a lot of money, so there’s a big summer and another rebuild.”
Boyd concluded: “When everything’s going well Rangers look like a good team but in the moments they have to suffer they fold.
“I’m fed up saying it.”
This defeat means Rangers are now out of the title race.
Celtic Fans Call for Kris Boyd Suspension Over ‘Unacceptable’ Maeda Comment
Celtic supporters have launched a passionate campaign demanding pundit Kris Boyd’s suspension following controversial remarks about Daizen Maeda during the heated Old Firm clash at Celtic Park, where the Hoops secured a commanding 3-1 victory over Rangers.
The Japanese forward stole the show with a brilliant second-half double, including a spectacular overhead kick that sent the home crowd into delirium and effectively ended Rangers’ title hopes. However, in the aftermath of Maeda’s clinical finishing, Boyd—commentating for a major broadcaster—allegedly made remarks many Celtic fans deemed disrespectful and inflammatory towards the popular attacker.
Social media erupted shortly after the final whistle, with hashtags like #SuspendBoyd and #Respect
Maeda trending among the Celtic faithful. Fans accused the former Rangers striker of bias and crossing professional boundaries in “heated moments,” arguing his comments undermined Maeda’s outstanding contribution and the spirit of the game.
A petition calling for disciplinary action has already gathered hundreds of signatures. Celtic club sources have yet to comment officially, while broadcasters are expected to review the incident. Boyd has not publicly responded to the backlash.
The episode highlights the intense passion of the Old Firm rivalry, where emotions often run high both on and off the pitch. Maeda, meanwhile, continues to win plaudits for his tireless work rate and clinical edge.
