Chelsea Mock Leeds United on Social Media After FA Cup Win

Chelsea have shown no mercy to Leeds United on social media following their 1-0 victory in the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues, who are currently led by interim boss Calum McFarlane after Liam Rosenior was sacked last week, secured their place in next month’s final thanks to Enzo Fernandez’s first-half goal.

Chelsea were on a run of seven defeats in eight games heading into the semi-final. McFarlane admitted ‘relief’ was his main emotion following the narrow win over Leeds.

“Relief is the correct word,” McFarlane told reporters. “We were confident going into the game and we had a good three days [training], but you never know.

“We wanted to shift the momentum; our form hasn’t been great, but probably the character was the most pleasing part.

“I think those lads showed how much they want to win a football game and what they were willing to do to win a really important football game for the club.”Robert Sanchez Chelsea

It appears there’s no love lost between Chelsea and Leeds on social media. Back in 2023, Leeds took a pop at Chelsea when they tweeted “life comes at you fast!” after scoring two goals in four minutes, moments after Chelsea had tweeted “starting to assert ourselves!”

Chelsea exacted their revenge on the final day of the 2022-23 Premier League season when Leeds were relegated to the Championship, tweeting: “It certainly does.”

Three years have now passed, but that didn’t stop Chelsea from rubbing further salt into Leeds’ wounds on Sunday.

The Blues posted photos contrasting euphoric Chelsea fans with despondent Leeds supporters, alongside the caption: “On your big day out”. Ouch.

The west London outfit didn’t stop there. Back in December, Leeds secured a 3-1 win over Chelsea in the Premier League. They posted a tweet of Ethan Ampadu and Enzo Fernandez with the caption: “Welcome to Leeds!”

Chelsea responded on Sunday with a photo of Fernandez with his Player of the Match award after the semi-final, with the caption: “Welcome to Wembley!”

Both tweets have subsequently gone viral on X, with Chelsea fans naturally loving their admin’s cheeky antics. However, the tweets have naturally rattled some Leeds supporters.

Chelsea currently sit eighth in the Premier League table after their dismal recent run of form but will hope Sunday’s win marks a turning point as they aim to secure European football for next season.

Regardless of their final league position, Chelsea can seal qualification for next season’s Europa League if they defeat Manchester City in the FA Cup final on May 16.
