Jamie Redknapp names Leeds player as his signing of the season – The Leeds Press

Leeds United are almost certain to play in the Premier League season following an emphatic 3-1 win over Burnley at Elland Road on Friday night.

Anton Stach opened the scoring for Leeds in the first half with a brilliant strike from 25 yards to set the home side on their way to a decisive victory in the Premier League survival race.

With 43 points on the board, Leeds are now almost certain to be out of the danger zone and are set to feature in the Premier League next season.

The German’s performance was one of the highlights of a solid home showing, and Jamie Redknapp has lavished praise on Stach for what he has done this term.

Anton Stach is termed one of the signings of the season

Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has identified Anton Stach as one of the signings of the season. He credited the recruitment department for securing him at such a reasonable fee.

He lavished praise on Stach’s awareness and qualities as a midfielder that make him such a potent force for Leeds at the top level.

Redknappe said on Sky Sports: “Leeds are playing like a side who know what’s at stake, and they have that extra quality as well, especially in Anton Stach.

“At £17m, he is for me one of the signings of the season, he has got two good feet, and we have seen the full repertoire tonight.

“It was a really good goal from him. He has got a great left foot and right foot, and I have been really impressed with him this season.

“He takes a lot of great set-pieces as well, and recruitment is so important. He has got a great perception of what is around him; he is always checking his shoulder, which is so important, you do that as a midfield player.

“As he receives that ball, he knows exactly where he is; he takes it with his right foot and hits it with his left. It’s a great piece of midfield play and a quality moment in the game.”

The German has been immense

Leeds believed they pulled off a coup when they secured Anton Stach over clubs in the Champions League last summer, and they have been proven right.

Stach has looked at home in the Premier League, and there is no surprise that several clubs in Europe were chasing him last year.

His set-piece deliveries and ability to score from a distance have added a different dimension to the Leeds team, and his tall frame has proven to be valuable in an increasingly physical Premier League.

Leeds would do well if they could unearth another player of his quality at a similar price in the upcoming summer transfer window.
