Hume Hails Team Spirit as Sunderland Grind Out Goalless Draw at Brighton
Trai Hume praised Sunderland’s collective effort and defensive resilience after the Black Cats secured a valuable 0–0 draw away to Brighton, extending their impressive run of clean sheets this season.
Speaking after the final whistle, Hume underlined the importance of togetherness and discipline, stressing that any point earned on the road deserves recognition. “We work hard for each other and pride ourselves on clean sheets,” the defender said. “Any point away from home deserves to be treasured.”

Sunderland produced a controlled performance, particularly in the first half, where they dictated large spells of possession and created the better chances. While clear-cut opportunities were limited at both ends, the visitors looked composed and organised, frustrating a Brighton side that struggled to break them down.

The result marked Sunderland’s sixth clean sheet of the season, a statistic Hume described as a major achievement. “Six clean sheets is amazing for us,” he added. “It shows the level of commitment and focus in the team.”

Hume also reserved special praise for a teammate, highlighting the unity within the squad. “Kudos to this particular player — he is one of the best, and I’m happy to play with him,” he said, underlining the strong relationships forming within the dressing room.

Although Sunderland were unable to find a breakthrough, the clean sheet and point earned away from home continue to reflect their growing maturity and defensive solidity. As the season progresses, performances like this could prove crucial in maintaining momentum and confidence.
