Sheffield Wednesday have been dealt a significant setback as manager Henrik Pedersen has confirmed that winger Nathan Redmond is expected to miss the remainder of December due to a groin injury.
Redmond, who recently signed a short-term contract with the Owls after arriving as one of the club’s two permitted free-agent additions, was notably absent from the squad during Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Watford at Vicarage Road.
Pedersen explained that the 30-year-old complained of discomfort in his groin on Sunday, prompting medical assessments that have now revealed the issue is more serious than initially hoped.

“We’re going to be without Nathan for a few weeks,” Pedersen said. “It’s a blow for us because he’s a player who can change games, but his health comes first. We need to make sure he recovers properly.”
The winger had been building sharpness and offering attacking versatility since joining the squad last month, making his absence a frustrating one for a Wednesday side fighting to gain momentum heading into a crucial festive period.
Pedersen remains hopeful that Redmond could return early in the new year, but for now, the Owls must navigate the busy December schedule without one of their key creative options.
