World Championships 2024. The event, held from 15 to 19 July on Lake Garda, concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony celebrating the achievements of the world’s top young sailing talents.

The Italian team made a remarkable splash at the championships, securing six world titles across 11 events and six classes. Their performance was highlighted by impressive displays of precision and skill, reaffirming their dominance in the sport.

The festivities took place outside Casa Italia, where sailors, coaches, officials, volunteers, and staff gathered to honour the outstanding performances of the youth sailors. Italy’s success was marked by notable victories, including Maria Vittoria Arseni and Antonio Pascali clinching top spots in the ILCA 6 class for women and men respectively. Additionally, Carola Colasanto and Federico Pilloni triumphed in the iQFOiL class, completing two clean sweeps for the Italian team.

On their home turf, Italy matched their remarkable achievements from last year’s championships in Buzios, Brazil, thanks to the guidance of Youth Technical Director Alessandra Sensini. The local crowd cheered as Italy’s national anthem, “Il Canto degli Italiani,” resonated around Riva, alongside celebrations from Poland, Argentina, Brazil, and Greece.

In a notable highlight, Maria Catalina Turienzo concluded her youth sailing career with a Formula Kite title, a perfect preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Her victory capped a week of dominance and underscored the high level of competition at the event.
