Team News: Spurs forward will miss the
Ange Postecoglou has provided a team news update ahead of tomorrow’s match against Chelsea during this afternoon’s press conference at Hotspur Way.

Tottenham head into the match at Stamford Bridge on the back of the disappointing 3-2 defeat against Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where they found themselves 3-0 down at the half time interval.

The North Londoners have had little time to digest the result and thankfully have a quick turnaround in fixtures which has been a rarity this season having crashed out of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in the early stages and no European football on

Tottenham fans will be looking for the club to return to winning ways and deny former boss Mauricio Pochettino the opportunity to complete the double over his former employer having won the return fixture 4-1 back in November

Postecoglou provides injury update on Timo Werner ahead of Chelsea match
Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs first-team squad ahead of the clash against Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Timo Werner started the North London derby at the weekend and was forced off at the half hour mark where he had to be replaced by Brennan Johnson due to a hamstring issue

The German will now miss the opportunity to come up against his former side where he made 89 appearances across all competitions, scoring 23 goals in the process (transfermarkt) as a result of being ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Destiny Udogie, Fraser Forster, Manor Solomon and Ryan Sessegnon all remained ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Postecoglou told the official Spurs site: “Unfortunately, we’ve had a couple of issues from the last game. Timo with a hamstring (issue), so he’ll miss the rest of the season. Obviously, with only three weeks to go, he won’t be back.”

Spurs have been dominant
It has not been the brightest of starts to the season for Tottenham, with one win, one draw, and one defeat to their name in the first three games of the Premier League campaign.

While performances have been strong, the dominance and chance creation in games has not led to the desired results as of yet.

Now, the Lilywhites face their toughest task of the season in the form of a North London derby, a game that means everything to the fans.

In his press conference today (via Football.London), Postecoglou was asked about those first few games and how he thinks they will impact the campaign as a whole.

He said: “Results come sooner rather than later. We got to stay consistent in our approach. We dominated all three games. Results haven’t come but if we maintain that over 38 games we’ll be in a good position.

The plan hasn’t changed
Regardless of how those first few results have gone, Postecoglou is not about to change his methodology.

When asked what he has learned from last season, he added: “I don’t think I learned anything that I already knew. I will never go into a game not wanting to win. I will try and win every game I play.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I’m not too concerned about the results so far. Small margins have stopped us from winning all three games, and if we keep playing the way we have, we will go on a good run I’m sure.
