Top allies to President Joe Biden fumed online Sunday afternoon after he announced he would drop his bid for a second term and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris.

Ron Klain, the White House chief of staff for Biden from 2021 to 2023, issued a bitter statement in which he lashed out at donors and congressional Democrats whom he said had “pushed out the only candidate who has ever beaten” former President Donald Trump.

“Now that the donors and electeds have pushed out the only candidate who has ever beaten Trump, it’s time to end the political fantasy games and unite behind the only veteran of a national campaign — our outstanding
@vp, @KamalaHarris!! Let’s get real and win in November!” Klain wrote on X (formerly Twitter)
