Mousinho Explodes Over Derby Fans After Pride Park Clash
Portsmouth head coach John Mousinho launched a furious post-match outburst aimed at Derby County supporters following his side’s away fixture at Pride Park, admitting he was left deeply saddened by the chants he heard as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Speaking after the final whistle, Mousinho questioned the nature of the chants coming from the home stands, making it clear the incident had overshadowed the football itself.

️ “WFT was that chant for?” Mousinho said.
️ “I have never had such a nonchalant chant in football.”
The Pompey boss revealed the chants struck a personal chord, explaining that instead of reflecting on the hard-fought point his team earned, he was left disappointed by the atmosphere inside Pride Park.

️ “It’s against football rules. FIFA should take immediate action,” he added.
In unusually blunt comments, Mousinho went as far as labelling Derby County supporters as the “worst” he has encountered in his coaching career, stressing that such behaviour has no place in the modern game.
While Mousinho did not disclose the exact wording of the chants, he insisted they crossed a clear line and took the shine off a competitive contest that finished 1-1. The incident has now sparked wider debate around supporter conduct and accountability in English football.
Derby County are yet to issue an official response, with attention turning to whether the EFL or FA will review the matter following Mousinho’s strong remarks.
Portsmouth now move on from the draw, but the fallout from Pride Park is likely to linger.
