Melissa Vargas, a Cuban-born volleyball star representing Turkey, has set remarkable records in Olympic volleyball. In a match against the Netherlands during the Paris 2024 Olympics, she became the first Cuban volleyball player to score 30 or more points in an Olympic match, achieving 30 points.Later, in a quarter-final match against China, Vargas scored 42 points, including 38 attacks, leading Turkey to a 3-2 victory and securing their first Olympic semifinal appearance. This performance is the second-highest point total in a single Olympic match, just behind Croatia’s Barbara Jelic, who scored 44 points in the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
