Kelsey Plum, Darren Waller breakup: What WNBA star said about divorce after a year of marriage
The announcement comes not long after Waller, 31, publicly questioned his own NFL future despite being under contract through 2026. He was considering whether he wanted to “invest” his mind and body into the game anymore, he told People magazine.
Plum, meanwhile, is preparing for her seventh WNBA season with the Olympics in mind. The 29-year-old won back-to-back championships with the Aces and earned an All-Star in each of the last two seasons.

lum and Waller filed for divorce Tuesday, according to People Magazine. No explanation for the split was made public.
Plum released a statement following the news, in which she indicated that the split was potentially less than amicable.
“I’m devastated. I walked through fire for that man, but now I see it’s time to go,” Plum said, adding: “One day I’ll share my story.”

Plum and Waller got married in March 2023 in Las Vegas. Their relationship became public in 2022, though it isn’t known exactly when they started dating.
Both Plum and Waller played for Las Vegas teams when they first got married, but that lasted less than two weeks before Waller was traded from the Raiders to the Giants. Waller posted 552 yards and a touchdown on the other side of the country, even though he missed five games due to injuries.
Waller hasn’t yet confirmed that he’s returning to the Giants in 2024, while Plum is set to start the 2024 WNBA season with the Aces in three weeks. Plum also is competing for an Olympic spot after winning a gold medal with USA Basketball’s 3×3 team at the 2021 Summer Games.
