Man arrested after allegedly stealing a car in Kansas City, Missouri, and another one in Lawrence.
Brian Joseph Tebbe, 38, from Kansas City, Missouri, was arrested on March 12, 2025, following a series of alleged criminal activities across state lines. In Kansas City, Tebbe reportedly stopped a 72-year-old woman’s Subaru Forester by placing a traffic cone in its path. When she inquired, he claimed the road was closed, then forcibly removed her from the vehicle and drove off. Using the vehicle’s GPS, authorities traced it to a residence in the 1000 block of Biltmore Drive in Lawrence, Kansas. There, witnesses observed Tebbe entering their garage and driving away in their vehicle, nearly striking one witness in the process. The stolen vehicle was later spotted at a gas station in Topeka, Kansas, where Kansas Highway Patrol troopers apprehended Tebbe. He is currently held in the Douglas County Jail, awaiting extradition to Missouri.
