left with no choice but to terminate Maximilian Wober contract, it’s the only way out

Leeds United are surely set to welcome Maximilian Wober back to Elland Road once his loan to Werder Bremen expires.

The Austria international made just four appearances for the Bundesliga club this season, with injuries hampering his spell.

While the German side have an option to buy the centre-back, they have been given no reason to do so after the 28-year-old’s stint at Weserstadion.

Wober’s future at Elland Road looks bleak and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the West Yorkshire outfit be ruthless and terminate the defender’s contract despite one year remaining on it.

Instead of being forced to find a suitor for the centre-back and keeping him on their books, the Peacocks would arguably be better off just coming to a mutual agreement with him over an exit.

Leeds United can’t afford Maximilian Wober headache

Wober has barely had consistent first-team minutes over the last two years due to several injuries.

The Austrian ace will surely be seen as a liability at Elland Road, with any interested clubs surely reluctant to sign him over fitness concerns.

Wober is unlikely to command a massive transfer fee and the Peacocks shouldn’t risk having to keep the defender around for another year due to a lack of potential suitors for him in the summer.

Former Manchester United assistant manager Mick Brown has told Football Insider that Daniel Farke’s demands could force 49ers Enterprises to be ambitious in the summer.

That aspiration may require making some tough calls in LS11 over the coming weeks.

Daniel Farke input will be key in Elland Road exodus

Isaac Schmidt, Jack Harrison, Largie Ramazani, Joe Gelhardt, Mateo Joseph and Harry Gray could all be back at Leeds from their respective loan spells soon.

Farke has some massive decisions to make over their futures, especially with someone like Gelhardt, who was prolific for Hull City in the Championship.

Schmidt could also possibly be a part of the German manager’s plans going into the 2026-27 campaign after Sam Byram’s exit.

For someone like Gray, he would certainly be better off on another loan spell to further his development, but only time will tell what the future holds at Elland Road.

Leeds United are surely set to welcome Maximilian Wober back to Elland Road
