John Ruddy is leaving Newcastle United this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

John Ruddy has confirmed his departure from Newcastle United<\/a> in an emotional farewell message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 39-year-old joined the Magpies on a free transfer from Birmingham City<\/a> two years ago and while he has never made a competitive first-team appearance, he has played an important role behind the scenes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ruddy has supported the club\u2019s senior goalkeepers, as well as taken an interest in all areas of the club, including attending academy and under-21s matches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking last year, head coach Eddie Howe<\/a> explained: “John has been brilliant behind the scenes, I have to say. I can’t praise people like John enough. John has come into the football club and he has fully embraced everything we do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“He is here for youth games and reserve games. He has really invested in trying to help people. Every player, I am sure, has touched in some way. John has been a vital part of what we have done this year.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

John Ruddy announces Newcastle United exit<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The veteran goalkeeper is out of contract this summer has decided to move on to pastures new, with suggestions he could hang up the gloves and take a course to become a sporting director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Confirming his exit on Instagram, Ruddy wrote: \u201cGeordies\u2026Thank you for welcoming me and my family to your club. The last photo says it perfectly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
