Nothing will feel quite as iniquitous as the point denied West Ham United<\/a> after Callum Wilson\u2019s late equaliser against Arsenal was chalked off after VAR\u2019s infamous 5 minute VAR search for visible justification for doing so, despite the referee on the pitch awarding a goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the fall out rumbles on and it appears that West Ham are to be further punished following goal keeping coach Rui Barbosa<\/strong> being shown a red card by referee Chris Kavanagh in the aftermath of that decision which could cost West Ham their Premier League status. High Stakes indeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FA have now shed more light on the incident that saw Barbosa land a misconduct charge and a touchline suspension for the trip to St James\u2019 Park on Sunday.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A statement via FA Spokesperson read: \u201cRui Barbosa of West Ham United has been charged with misconduct following their Premier League match against Arsenal on Sunday 10 May.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s alleged that around the 88th minute, the goalkeeping coach used offensive, insulting, or abusive language and\/or gestures, leading to his dismissal. It\u2019s further alleged that following the conclusion of the match, he acted in an improper manner and\/or used abusive and\/or insulting words and\/or behaviour towards a match official.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRui Barbosa has until Monday 18 May to provide a response\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyone watching the game on Sky Sports with a modicum of lip reading ability will likely know what Barbosa\u2019s brief expletive -ridden outburst concerned. Will he be bothered by a ban or a fine which the club will pay:? Not a lot. Compared with the repercussions of that lost Premier League point, it all seems a bit futile. Surely better just to reprimand him and move on \u2013 better still, spend three years doing nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, that isn\u2019t the FA\u2019s style \u2013  unless you happen to be from Chelsea or Manchester City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
