West Ham may have been handed the chance to bring Axel Disasi back to east London this summer.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The France international enjoyed a hugely impressive loan spell at London Stadium<\/strong><\/a> in the second half of last season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chelsea centre-back made an immediate impact following his arrival on transfer deadline day in February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before his arrival, West Ham had kept just one clean sheet in all competitions since the beginning of the season, but went on to keep three in his first four appearances and would keep a total of seven in his 16 appearances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 28-year-old developed a strong partnership with fellow centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos, and there was hope that the Hammers could make his loan permanent if they survived relegation to the Championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Nuno Espirito Santo<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s side failed to avoid the drop, and any hopes of extending Disasi\u2019s stay in claret and blue seemed to fade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But a recent report suggests all hope isn\u2019t lost after all, and a move for Disasi could still materialise this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Sportsboom<\/strong><\/a>, West Ham are exploring the possibility of bringing Disasi back to the club as Nuno attempts to build a squad capable of winning promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s claimed sources close to Sportsboom say Disasi is \u2018open to discussions over a permanent move\u2019 and \u2018would welcome the chance to return.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His Chelsea career is believed to be all but over, and the defender is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His performances for the Hammers last season will have no doubt alerted other clubs who will most likely be able to offer Disasi first-team football in the Premier League and perhaps even European competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it might be that the familiar surroundings of east London, and the opportunity to play under Nuno once again, could put West Ham in a strong position to win the race for his services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Disasi did enjoy his time at the club and following confirmation of relegation in May, he posted the following message to fans on social media<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cThankful to West Ham for everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFrom day one, you welcomed me as one of your own and gave me your trust, especially during a difficult period in my career. I always tried to give everything of myself every time I wore the shirt, despite the difficult outcome for all of us this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI will always be grateful for the support, the people I met and the moments shared together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI wish the club, the fans and everyone around West Ham nothing but the very best for the future. I truly hope the club comes back stronger and competing where it deserves to be.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While that message suggested the chances of signing Disasi permanently were over, it now appears there might be hope of getting a deal done after all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indeed, transfer fee and wage demands will play a huge factor in whether a deal is possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But with Daniel Kretinsky\u2019s imminent investment and claims that the club no longer needs to sell players to balance the books, there\u2019s a fresh feeling that the club\u2019s financial power could now make a deal like this a more realistic possibility, even in the Championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On top of that, Nuno will undoubtedly be keen to reunite with Disasi this summer, given the impact the defender had during his short loan spell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is clearly a big fan of the defender, having hailed his West Ham debut<\/strong><\/a> in February as \u201csolid.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
