Everton star release statement confirming he will be leaving the club days after fall out with David Moyes

Star brought to Everton by David Moyes tells him to make transfer move for 37-goal striker

Everton should make a move for AZ and Republic of Ireland striker Troy Parrott reckons former Blues winger Kevin Kilbane

After 37 goals for club and country last season, Everton have been backed to make a move for Troy Parrott with the message that the prolific marksman is “not a flash in the pan.”

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker who was farmed out to Millwall, Ipswich Town, Milton Keynes Dons and Preston North End before trying his luck in the Netherlands, has struck 68 times in 127 matches since moving to the Dutch Eredivisie, initially on loan at Excelsior before making a permanent switch to Alkmaar in 2024.

Last season he plundered 31 goals in 48 games for AZ while adding a further half dozen on international duty for the Republic of Ireland.

Kevin Kilbane, who made 121 appearances for Everton, scoring five goals, after being snapped up by David Moyes in 2003, reckons his former boss should make a move for the 24-year-old.

Asked by Betway Insider whether he’d tell the Glaswegian gaffer to sign Parrott, Kilbane said: “I doubt he’s going to take my advice these days! But look, as I’ve said to you before, this is not a flash in the pan.“

It wasn’t just two games where he scored five goals and the first-ever Irish hat-trick away from home. If you look at him consistently over the last couple of years at Alkmaar, he’s scored big goals in European competition, and he’s scored consistently in the Dutch league.

“He’s had to go away, grow up, and find himself in many respects. If Everton or any Premier League club were to sign Troy Parrott, you’re getting quality.“

You’re getting a player who’s matured. He looks stronger physically.

“Irish fans know he’s not a flash in the pan, the talent is real. If you’re asking me his ceiling, it could be anything he wants.“

His overall game is improving – technically and tactically. He’s far more rounded now.“And look, I believe he’s an Evertonian. I’ve heard he’s a Toffee.

“So, if he is a Toffee, we’ll take him all day long. Another Irishman in the blue jersey – we’d be first in the queue for that.”
