Heartbreaking forever in my heart : Toronto blue star player terminated a great contract deal due to harassment ……
Mark Canha and Wenceel Pérez both hit two-run home runs, Jack Flaherty struck out eight batters in 5 2/3 innings to earn his sixth win in seven starts, and the Detroit Tigers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 on Friday night. It was the Tigers’ third consecutive win and their ninth victory in the last 11 games.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer hit two-run homers for the Blue Jays in the game. Despite their offensive efforts, Toronto lost for the third time in four games and has struggled in close contests, with a 12-18 record in one-run games.
Toronto Blue Jays infielder Joey Votto was removed from his planned start for the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons on Friday night after aggravating his right ankle injury during pregame warmups.
The Blue Jays announced that Votto, who has already dealt with ankle and lower-back problems this season, would undergo further evaluation on Saturday.
This is the same ankle that the 40-year-old Toronto native injured during spring training after signing a minor league contract with his hometown team on March 9.
During his brief stint in spring training, Votto hit a home run off Zack Wheeler of the Philadelphia Phillies in his only at-bat on March 17. However, he suffered another setback when he stepped on a bat in the dugout during that same game, leading to a three-month absence from play.
