Bissouma, Postecoglou added: “It’s not serious, but he’s getting treatment today. We’ll see how it goes.”

“It’s a tweak in his groin. The initial reports is it’s not serious which means there is a chance for Sunday, which tells me it’s nothing significant.

“If he doesn’t make Sunday, then I’ll assume he’ll be right for after that. At the same time, he’s just come off a long flight, you never feel great anyway, we’ll see how he trains tomorrow and that will give the best indication.”

Richarlison and young striker Will Lankshear have been ruled out. Postecolgou said: “Richy’s still got a bit of work to do, alongside Will Lankshear who is still in rehab.”

Van de Ven was forced to pull out of the Netherlands squad during the international break.

But, ahead of Sunday’s north London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou said: “It’s fairly positive. Micky’s good, he’s trained all the way through the international break and it was good for him to stay with us to build him back up so he’s ready to go.

“Dom’s improved as well and trained the back half of this week. We still have two days to go with those guys so hopefully they get through training ok and are available.”

Spurs may be without Yves Bissouma, who suffered an injury on international duty for Mali.

“We had the last of the boys in late [on Thursday] so we’ll have a look at them today and everyone’s reporting all well except for Biss,” Postecoglou said on Friday. “He’s got a bit of an issue, but we’ll have a look at him over the next couple of days and see how it settles.

WHAT HAPPENED?
In a June television interview in Uruguay, Bentancur made an offensive racist remark about South Koreans. When the host asked the midfielder for a Spurs player’s shirt, he responded: ‘Sonny’s? It could be Sonny’s cousin too as they all look the same’. Following the incident, South Korea captain Son shared on social media that he had accepted Bentancur’s apologies and that the two would always be “brothers”.

The English Football Association has now charged Bentancur for the comment, and he may be subject to a lengthy suspension. The 27-year-old may be banned from six to twelve games if proven guilty or if the charge is not disputed. He has until September 19 to respond to the charges.

WHAT POSTECOGLOU SAID
Speaking to the media, Postecoglou said: “In terms of Sonny and Rodri, they had a discussion about the whole incident. Both players understand and respect each other’s position and Rodri has already apologised for what he said. Sonny has accepted that and accepted the fact that one of his team-mates and a person he is close with has made a mistake.”

He added: “If we are talking about having a society that is understanding and tolerant of everything, we also must show that to people who make mistakes as Rodri has made in his time.

“We know him very well, a lot better than most because we spend every day with him and understand the kind of person he is. We understand that even though he is a great guy and a fantastic team-mate, he has made a big error this time and he has got to take the punishment but also we need to give him the opportunity to learn from it and atone from it and hopefully others learn from it as well.”
