North Korea vows to expand unclear forces blast us for outdated denuclearization plan
North Korea has criticized the United States and its Asian allies—South Korea and Japan—for pursuing what it describes as an “outdated and absurd” denuclearization plan. In response, North Korea has pledged to expand its nuclear forces under the leadership of Kim Jong Un.
This statement follows a recent trilateral meeting in Munich, where the U.S., South Korea, and Japan reaffirmed their commitment to North Korea’s complete denuclearization. North Korea views this stance as unrealistic and has warned of “overwhelming and decisive counteraction” if it perceives threats to its security.
The North Korean foreign ministry emphasized that its nuclear arsenal is a legitimate means of self-defense and stated that the country will “consistently adhere to the new line of bolstering the nuclear force.”
