Barry Gibb explains why The Bee Gees never recorded a Christmas song
Barry Gibb, the last surviving member of the Bee Gees, has explained that the band never recorded a Christmas song because he views modern Christmas music as a “marketing trick.”
He elaborated that while recording a Christmas track might have been appropriate fifty years ago, today it seems more like a commercial gimmick.
Interestingly, although the Bee Gees didn’t produce a Christmas song, Barry’s late brother Robin Gibb released a solo album titled “My Favourite Christmas Carols.” Barry had no involvement in this project.
Therefore, while the Bee Gees chose to abstain from recording Christmas music, their legacy includes a solo contribution from Robin Gibb in this genre.
