Ayr set for Dundee United Premier Sports Cup….

On Saturday, Ayr United will visit Tannadice with the intention of building on their strong Premier Sports Cup debut.

The match between The Honest Men and Jim Goodwin’s Dundee United is crucial and could determine who tops the group stage league table.

With just one game under their belt—a 1-0 victory over Falkirk at Somerset Park on Tuesday night—Ayr is currently equal for fourth place in Group B with Stenhousemuir, Dundee United, and the Bairns in terms of both goal differential and points.

On July 13, Falkirk had won 2-0 over Dundee United in their own first group match.

With Tuesday night’s outcome, Scott Brown’s team maintained their strong preseason play. On July 11, they defeated Kilmarnock 3-2 in a friendly match.

On Tuesday, captain Anton Dowds scored the game’s lone goal.

On Saturday, away fans will be accommodated in the Carling West Stand at Tannadice.

The match will be shown live on Premier Sports and gets underway at 5:15 p.m.

The final two group stage matches for Ayr are on Tuesday, July 23 at 7.45 p.m. away at Stenhousemuir, and on Saturday, July 27 at 3 p.m. at home against Buckie Thistle.

On August 3, Brown’s team kicks off their Championship season at New Douglas Park against Hamilton Accies.
