Chelsea have been warned they may have little choice but to consider a transfer offer from Coventry City for Mykhaylo Mudryk as Financial Fair Play (FFP) pressures continue to mount at Stamford Bridge.
Mudryk arrived at Chelsea in January 2023 in a blockbuster deal that could rise to £87 million, one of the marquee signings during Todd Boehly’s ambitious early transfer windows as owner. While the Ukrainian international was signed with long-term potential in mind, Chelsea’s current financial situation could force difficult decisions.

With FFP regulations tightening, Chelsea are expected to raise funds through player sales, and Mudryk has emerged as a possible candidate should a suitable offer arrive. Coventry City are understood to be monitoring the situation closely and are prepared to test Chelsea’s resolve with a formal approach.
The Sky Blues reportedly hold strong belief in Mudryk’s ability, viewing him as a high-quality attacking midfielder who could add creativity, pace, and directness to their squad. Coventry’s recruitment team are said to admire his technical skill set and feel the club’s environment could allow him to rediscover his best form.

Although a move would represent a dramatic shift given the original fee involved, Chelsea’s priority may be compliance with FFP rather than recouping their full investment. As a result, a Coventry City bid could be seriously considered if it helps ease financial pressure.
Mudryk’s future remains uncertain, but growing interest from Coventry City highlights how Chelsea’s FFP concerns may shape their transfer strategy in the months ahead.
