Rangers Transfer goes into overdrive following Nicolas Raskin bombshell

The Rangers star who’s ‘played his last game’ as asking price set

Andy Halliday is convinced that Nicolas Raskin has played his last game for the club.

The 25-year-old midfielder was linked with a move away even before his impressive World Cup performance.

Interest in Raskin has heightened after his significant contribution to Belgium’s quarter-final run.

Halliday said on Open Goal: “Aye, he’s played his last game for Rangers.

“I think he would’ve left anyway, but after a good World Cup he’ll have better options.”

Halliday also compared Raskin to Celtic’s Arne Engels, for whom Nottingham Forest reportedly bid £25million.

He said: “I think Raskin’s a better player than Engels.”

Nottingham Forest bid £25million for Engels.

“I don’t think Rangers would get £25million for Raskin, but you’re trying to push it as much as you possibly can.”

Derek Ferguson believes the Premier League is the most likely destination for Raskin, with Hull City reportedly interested.

He said: “I think Premier League because it’s a great platform for him and he’s showed up well.”

It was a stepping stone, but Rangers supporters shouldn’t take that as an insult because that happens.”

How Rangers can structure tempting deal for Jens Hjerto-Dahl after £8.5m demands

Rangers will have to splash the cash to sign Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl this summer.

Since late 2025, the 20-year-old has been linked with a move to the Light Blues and speculation around his future has ramped up again.

Tromso have set an £8.5m price tag on Hjerto-Dahl and the Ibrox hierarchy certainly have ways of getting a deal over the line.

Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises are continuing their heavy investment in the squad under Derek McInnes, but they will certainly have an eye on their budget, with other areas needing strengthening.

The Govan side have already spent £7m to sign Ross McCrorie and Ivor Pandur and it will be interesting to see how much they are willing to spend in the coming weeks, with significant sales also expected in G51.

Nicolas Raskin clause at Rangers can tempt Tromso

Nicolas Raskin moved to the Gers in January 2023 for around £1.5m and has now established himself as one of the best midfielders in Scotland.

The Belgium international is now attracting interest from multiple top teams across Europe and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him leave for at least £20m before the end of the window.

Standard Liege included a 20 per cent sell-on clause when negotiating the deal with the Light Blues for the 25-year-old and could be in for a decent windfall from his sale.

The Ibrox hierarchy have seen their first bid rejected, but a significant sell-on clause should make it more appealing for Tromso, with Raskin’s possible sale serving as an encouraging example.

How Jens Hjerto-Dahl mirrors Nicolas Raskin at Ibrox

It’s clear to see why Rangers are in hot pursuit of Hjerto-Dahl, with the youngster arguably the perfect replacement for Raskin.

The Belgian ace has seen his position at the Gers evolve from a deep-lying playmaker to a box-to-box midfielder, a role many fans feel is his best.

Hjerto-Dahl would bring a similar profile to the Light Blues and operate more in the attacking half, having scored five goals and provided two assists in 12 league matches this season.

The Norwegian prospect is tidy with the ball at his feet and puts in a defensive shift to recover possession, which would certainly complement the Govan side’s style of play.

Should Raskin move for big money, they have the funds sitting there immediately ready to make this move happen.
