Danny Rohl has brutally banished Rangers loanee Derek Cornelius to train with the youth team for the rest of his loan spell at Ibrox, according to Read Rangers.
The Light Blues have found themselves back in the mix for the Scottish Premiership after picking up a 1-0 win over St. Mirren this past weekend, closing the gap on league leaders Hearts to just three points. That’s despite a slow start to the season, and the manager being forced to deal with a number of injury issues since taking over.
One of those players has been defender Cornelius, who hasn’t featured for the club since November after suffering a hamstring injury, and it now seems that he won’t play for the Scottish giants again.
Cornelius Banished to Rangers Reserves

Cornelius joined the club on loan in the summer window from Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille, and performed well in a number of appearances before picking up an injury.
The Canada international has recently returned to first-team training, but is still considered to be weeks away from regaining full match fitness, and it has now been reported that the 28-year-old is not considered to be part of the first-team squad at Ibrox.
Cornelius has been told by manager Rohl to report for training with the youth team and Malky Thomson for the remainder of the campaign. Rangers have not confirmed the decision publicly, but it’s understood that his training gear has already been removed from the first-team training complex.
Despite his lack of involvement, Canada are still expecting to call the defender up for the upcoming international break as they continue their preparations for this summer’s World Cup tournament on home turf.
It’s unlikely that he will be available to feature in the games, but Jesse Marsch may now give him a run out because of his situation in Glasgow.
Rangers Have Title Run-In Squad Set

Rangers have been picking up results as and when they need to in recent months, and they have left themselves in an excellent position to really challenge for the title.
Now, Rohl has clearly decided on which players he can and can’t count on for the run-in, and it’s been made abundantly clear that Cornelius falls into the latter category.
Able to play at left-back or centre-back, Rangers are well stocked in those positions. Tuur Rommens, Dujon Sterling and Jayden Meghoma can play on the left, while Emmanuel Fernandez, Nasser Djiga, and John Souttar have nailed down the central positions among themselves.
Cornelius’ time at Rangers is done, and Rohl has made the brutal call himself.
