In a blistering post-match assessment of Nottingham Forest’s Europa League disappointment against FC Midtjylland, Roy Keane has delivered a scathing verdict on Brazilian defender Morato. Following the 1-0 defeat at the City Ground, which saw Forest fall to a late Cho Gue-sung header, the former Reds midfielder claimed Morato should be demoted to the reserves after a “woeful” and “lethargic” performance.
Keane, speaking on ITV Sport, was left fuming by the defender’s lack of concentration. Morato was substituted at half-time for Neco Williams after a shaky first 45 minutes, but Keane felt the damage to the team’s rhythm was already done. “I’m tired of seeing these modern defenders strolling around like they’re in a park,” Keane barked. “Morato today? He looked miles off it. No urgency, no bite. If I’m the manager, he’s in the reserves tomorrow morning to learn what it means to defend for this club.”
