Liverpool Slammed for Tweet Before England vs Argentina

Liverpool have caused a stir on social media with a tweet posted hours before England’s 2026 World Cup semi-final against rivals Argentina.

The Premier League side, who have no representatives in Thomas Tuchel’s 26-man World Cup squad, have been accused of throwing their support behind Argentina, rather than England.

A tweet with a photo of Alexis Mac Allister from their official X (Twitter) account reads: “Macca and Argentina take on England for a place in the FIFA World Cup final,” followed by the muscle emoji and the Argentina flag.

While Liverpool might argue that they’re only supporting their player, the tweet has sparked a fierce backlash.

One fan wrote: “I still cannot understand how an English club official account rooting for another nation against their home country. If anything it proves how fake everything is.”

A second added: “Embarrassing post. ‘ScOuSe NoT eNgLiSh’,” while a third said: “Such a disgrace posting this. And I’m a Liverpool fan.”

A fourth fan commented: “Hate this. C’mon England,” while a fifth wrote: “An English club posting this. Get in the bin…”

David Beckham Responds to England Fans’ Criticism of Wife Victoria After Norway Win

Former England and Manchester Untied midfielder David Beckham has responded to England fans’ criticism of his wife after it appeared that Victoria was completely disinterested in the Three Lions’ 2-1 win over Norway in the World Cup quarter-final in Miami on Saturday night.

Pictures of her sat down while the rest of her family went delirious spread like hellfire on social media (see below), with jokes made in her direction including sarcasm like: “Victoria Beckham couldn’t contain her excitement after England scored against Norway!”

American stand-up comedian Jenny Johnson was seen writing sarcastically on social media too: “I wanted to take a moment to single out @england’s number one fan, Victoria, Lady Beckham!!!! There’s nothing like cheering your heart out for England from home, then they cut to Victoria, and we see that classic Posh Spice smile! It’s so infectious!”

I used to think I got animated while watching sports, but Victoria blows my enthusiasm out of the water! Each time I see her I shout, ‘SPICE UP YOUR LIFE!!!!’ because her energy is electric!!! See for yourself!

“Seeing the post, David saw the funny side while also backing his wife, as he said, as per the Manchester Evening News: “She was celebrating inside I promise [crying laughing emoji]. Her reactions were slightly slower than mine [laughing face emoji] @jennyjohnsonhi5.”

Wayne Rooney Responds After Bold World Cup Claim Called Out by Erling Haaland

England legend Wayne Rooney has been left with egg on his face after Norway star Erling Haaland directly called out his bold World Cup claim. The BBC pundit had previously stated: “If Norway get to the quarter-finals, I’ll go in the River Mersey and row down it.”

Norway did indeed make it that far, beating Brazil 2-1 with Haaland scoring both goals to set up a quarter-final meeting with England. The Manchester City star could not help but fire back at Rooney after the match, as he said: “I’m looking forward to seeing you, Wayney boy. Wayne Rooney said he was going to row if we went to the quarter-finals. So Wayne Rooney, I expect you to go out on a rowing trip.”

Rooney has now offered up a response to the Norway strikers’ comments, admitting he got things badly wrong: “Yeah, I won’t be doing that again.”

Rooney then dragged BBC co-hosts Micah Richards and Joe Hart into the exchange as he claimed they would go down the Hudson River in New York: “But no, big Meeks [Richards] is going to come along. So me, Meeks and Harty, we’re all taking part, aren’t we? So we’re just trying to get it put together to do it on the Hudson River.”

Thibaut Courtois Reaction to Senne Lammens Mistake For Belgium vs Spain

Spain took on and beat Belgium 2-1 in the quarter-finals of the World Cup, but had a huge goalkeeping error to thank. Indeed, Senne Lammens fumbled a long-distance strike, allowing Mikel Mikel to bag the winner.

Fabian Ruiz had opened the scoring, but Charles De Ketelaere made it 1-1 before the break. It looked as though extra time could be on the cards before an injury to Thibaut Courtois changed the trajectory of the match.

Manchester United goalkeeper Lammens came on to replace the Real Madrid star but made a huge error in the 88th minute. Pau Cubarsi’s effort from range proved too hot to handle as the Belgian goalkeeper pushed the ball out into Merino’s path. The Arsenal star made no mistake, winning the game for Spain.

Naturally, the TV coverage instantly panned to Courtois and his frustrated reaction was clear to see. It’s sparked a big response online. One fan said: “That camera shot of Courtois’ reaction is BRUTAL.” Another added: “Courtois knew. That’s why he was crying before he left the pitch.” A third wrote: “Like something out of The Office.”

Someone summed up the mood, noting: “Cutting to Courtois rolling his eyes and sighing after Lammens spilled the ball to give up that goal is great camera work. He was disgusted.”

Cristian Romero Slammed For Actions After Argentina’s Winner

New footage has emerged of Cristian Romero’s actions immediately after Argentina’s winner against Egypt at the 2026 World Cup, and they haven’t gone down well. Argentina pulled off an incredible late comeback in their last 16 tie against Egypt on Tuesday, scoring a trio of late goals to emerge 3-2 victors.

Enzo Fernandez scored what turned out to be the winner in the 92nd minute as he expertly guided his header into the back of the net. Shortly before the Chelsea star’s goal, Mohamed Salah went down inside Argentina’s box following a challenge from Julian Alvarez. The referee waved away his protests, though.

When Fernandez found the back of the net, Romero immediately made a beeline for Salah and started celebrating and punching the air right in front of him. He did not get a reaction out of the Liverpool legend, though.

Football fans are slamming Romero after the footage went viral on social media. “I’m fuming after that,” one fan said, while another commented: “Disgraceful from Romero.” A third said: “Salah is 10 times the player he ever will be,” while a fourth stated: “That’s a disgrace. Piece of s***.”

Zeki Amdouni Posts About Lionel Messi Ahead of World Cup Tie

Argentina scraped through to the World Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday after scoring three late goals to beat Egypt 3-2. A few hours later, Switzerland beat Colombia on penalties to join them in the last eight.

The two nations will now go head-to-head at Kansas City Stadium on July 11. Switzerland star Zeki Amdouni is extremely excited ahead of the match.

Amdouni, who came off the bench against Colombia and scored his spot-kick in the penalty shootout, took to social media shortly after the match.

The 25-year-old posted a picture of him in the changing room with the caption: “I’m going to play against Messi. Yeah, that’s it, I can retire from football.”

Messi has had an extraordinary World Cup, scoring eight goals in Argentina’s run to the quarter-finals. Amdouni has made three appearances and was a late substitute in each of those games.

Belgium Players Mock Donald Trump During USA Clash

Belgium players were spotted mocking US President Donald Trump shortly before full-time in their 4-1 victory over the USMNT at the 2026 World Cup.

Huge controversy surrounded the last 16 fixture after FIFA suspended Folarin Balogun’s one-match suspension following his red card against Bosnia & Herzegovina in the Round of 32.

Trump, who has close ties with FIFA president Gianni Infantino, intervened and FIFA subsequently made the decision – branded “unprecedented, incomprehensible and unjustifiable” by UEFA – to free Balogun to play against the Belgians.

As well as getting revenge over the United States on social media with two savage post-match tweets, Belgium also poked fun at Trump on the pitch, with the players copying the US President’s iconic dance moves following their fourth and final goal. Watch the footage below: Belgium will now face Spain, who knocked Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal out of the tournament earlier on Monday, in the quarter-finals this Friday.
