NFL teams make history with unprecedented move ahead of 2025 Draft after 55 years
In a move not seen in 55 years, NFL teams have agreed to trade the first overall pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. The New York Giants have sent multiple draft picks, including their first-round selection at No. 3, to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for the top pick. This trade allows the Giants to select their preferred quarterback prospect, Cam Ward from the University of Miami.

This marks only the third time in the past decade that a team has traded for the No. 1 overall selection. The Chicago Bears held the rights to the 2024 No. 1 pick due to the Carolina Panthers’ move up in the previous year, and the last explicit trade for the No. 1 pick occurred in 2016.
The Giants’ decision to move up underscores their commitment to securing a franchise quarterback. Cam Ward’s dual-threat capabilities and high ceiling make him a valuable asset for New York’s future.
